Remote Keyless Entry w/o security system?

Just wondering if any of you have a 250/350 with factory remote keyless entry that does not also have a full alarm system.

ed has helped identify what I need to add RKE (kit 7L3Z-19A361-AA), but the description i find everywhere has me confused. It claims that this kit is for vehicles that already have factory installed RKE...

But this got me curious... Do all vehicles that have RKE have an alarm, too? ...or is it possible to just add the factory remotes without a security system?

I have remote keyless entry, with FOBS and door keypad, and I don't have any kind of alarm system at all. Mine is an XLT which does not include keyless, but I have the "Advanced Security Group" option. A misleading name I think, because it is not an alarm.

I'm not aware that Ford even offered an actual alarm from the factory. I think it was only a dealer installed item up to at least '07. Don't know about the newer ones.

I will add that I don't think that kit alone is going to do it for you. You will have to have the truck programmed to recognize it. That is probaby what is meant by it only being for trucks that already have RKE. In other words, it is a replacement system. That's my guess anyway.

Im with Bill, pretty sure its just RKE, no alarm. If they do exist, I sure never have seen it. Oh and like posted in aother thread, I have done some research on this, you will have to install a factory RKE module and have it programmed. I grabbed a viper RKE (no alarm) from best-buy for under a hundred and works great. Only thing I wish it did was turn my dome lamp on and stay on when I unlocked it. It may have that function but when I installed it I was in a hurry and have moved and lost the destructions. My truck is a strange creature, full XLT trim with all the chrome and power everything, but had no RKE, small ghey mirrors and rubber floor mat.

good catch, bill

I wasn't thinking about the programming not being addressed.

Yes I'm aware that it will require that a parameter be turned "on"... I'm trying to figure out how many other items I might want turn on before all is said and done. (Already had the TBC and the AUX IN turned on)... Don't know what is left... Don't care much for cruise control, and that would take a new steering wheel anyway.

The description says it has a chirp and a full alarm:

Vehicle Security Kit
Protect your vehicle – and its contents – with a state-of-the-art security system. Alarm gives a warning chirp for non-threatening impacts and a Real Panic Sound® if security is threatened. IT-s® (Interior Theft Sensor) uses infrared technology to protect the vehicle’s contents. Transmitter locks/unlocks doors and deactivates alarm. For vehicles equipped with factory keyless entry.

Yeah, that's not what you need. Looks like an add-on dealer installed accessory. I don't think that was ever available installed by the factory.

You've got your work cut out for you to get the OEM system installed and working. I'm following your effort and I hope you get it figured out.

I found that in 2008 it was option 60F

includes auto locks, and auto lights (neither of which I care for)...

My biggest hangup is that I don't even know where the RKE module would be located...

If I can find the location, and find out that there is not even a connection set up for it, I'll probably just abandon the idea, as it would mean splicing wires.

My truck did not have one, hence the main reason I went with an aftermarket. Its called a VSM (vehicle security module) I cant remember to be honest if my truck had the wiring there or not, I would assume so but thats just a guess at this point as its been nearly 2 years since I looked into it. Here is the location for you to look at. \

I have a 2008 F250 SuperDuty Crew cab, XLT 4x4 5.4 with auto locks and lights and security system but no alarm and of the three shops I went to to add a key fob entry system ( 2 Ford dealers and a aftermarket add on shop/remote start audio etc) they ALL told me I can't add on the remote entry key fob because I don't have the alarm system, and adding it is "iffy" as they've had all kinds of electrical issues happen after adding the alarm and RKE.
I have not given up, and am hoping you find a solution to the same problem I have!
