This moring I was in the truck installing a new Arm rest with the running heater on and radio playing. Fast forward two hours later I go back out to head for work and she is dead. tried to jump the truck but everything is still dead dead! No dome lights, No Dash Lights, Nothing.... I get my multimeter and have have 12.88 volts on the battery, test the solenoid on the firewall and volts are well over 12.5.
Where could it be loosing power in the truck? Could it be the starter/solenoid gone bad? I work on plenty of old school hot rod chevy and usually get lights when the solenoid is bad, Do a ford kill everything? i did here that click the moment I tried to start it like the solenoid is bad.
The battery just could be bad; the volts aren't what starts the engine, the amps is where it gets it power. They battery could be reading the correct voltage but it could have very low amps, which would cause the engine to not start. To check if it is the starter solenoid just try turning the engine over and listen to see if the starter try’s to engage at all, if it doesn't engage and you still have your dash lights on[ showing there is some minimal power from the battery], then it is probably the starter solenoid. It could also be a loose starter wire connection which would cause the starter to not get full power and not be strong enough to turn over the engine. There is one more possibility of having a blown starter relay, I am not sure if your truck has one but if it’s blown the starter won’t engage at all.
