what is the name for the pane above the hood that your wipers go through. mine got bent when my hood popped up on the highway and now i need to replace it but i cant even find the name of the panel. its the one that has the grill in it right below the windshield. thankyou

Sounds about right to me, cowl is what I've heard it called.
