You're gonna have issues with the PCM. I'm not sure about the intake. When I did my swap, I found out quickly that a Expy engine is NOT the same as an F150 engine.....

Some are. If it is a 2V engine, you can use the truck intake and exhaust manifolds as long as your original is a PI engine. If it is a 3V engine, that would take a lot of work to convert.

That's cool that you got that unit to work for you. When I did my swap the junkyards kept telling me that the Expy motors wouldn't swap in. I knew there would be PCM issues if the heads were different, but I'm glad to know that the 2V will swap in....

Did you use the intake, the timing chain cover, oil pan, and r. side exhaust manifold off your old engine? Did all of that bolt up to the new motor with no problems?

Yes,everything off of my 99 5.4 bolted up to the 04 5.4 with no issues. When I bolted up my intake to the 04 engine,I used 1999 gaskets. My old engine has the P.I. heads, so does the 04 engine. The guy at the junkyard also told me that it wouldn't work either.I called a local engine builder and asked about it.He told me that if both engines are 2v motors, that everything would swap out.

Thanks for posting this. I need to swap a motor into a '99 E150 and was told that very few engines would work. Now I think that any of them would.
