The Ford Edsel was a car, yes, but it is also one of Henry Ford's sons.
The FE block is also his namesake. He was a very sentimental man. Watch the History Channel or do a
bit of reading in the library. There is readlly olot of great history invloved in the creation of
the auto empire we now know. Edsel even left Ford to start his own company. After his design would not
get adequate financial backing, he later returned to Ford and his new frame design would replace the Falcon
and become the most popular car ever built. That's right... ...the Mustang, like it or not.
Der, you were doing pretty good til you got to the stang, Lee Iocoka the went on to lead Chrysler out of bankruptcy is usually given the credit for the design of the stang.

oldblue74, I've got dozens of FoMoCo books in our inventory that say its "Ford Edsel." If you can't trust FoMoCo literature, what can you trust? Anyone can write a book and out of ignorance put "Ford Engine" in it but a rose by any other name.... please don't propagate a myth. :-(
If it comes down to it, I'll just get Gwynne at Ford historical to answer the question.

Ive never heard of a "FT" engine....I guess that FE label on my valve cover should be FT...well now thats just messed up :P and isnt the 389 the GTO engine? maybe im wrong...hehe
72 slowdown, the FT series engines were in the mid size trucks and consist of 330HD, 330MD, 359, 361, 389, & 391. This is from the cover of Steve Christ's How to Rebuild Your BIG-BLOCK FORD.
There is a lot to learn here, don't rush ahead. :-)

Again, your source isn't Ford. Mine is, from several of their publications. Can you show one source that's from Ford?
I'll have a response from Ford Historical next week, along with quotes from my Ford manuals this weekend. I anxiously await quotations from your FoMoCo sources, I'll have mine. Until then.....

WOW! What a run! This may be over simplifying things a tad, but as long as we all understand which engines belong to the FE family and what is and is not interchangeable with what then - WHO GIVES A ****?
