whenever I am pulling my trailer, and put the pedal down,I get a coolant smell in the cab. It's only when pulling and hammered.I don't seem to be losing any coolant.Any ideas?
I got it pulling the boat last summer. Degas bottle puking. Ended up a plugged oil cooler letting very little coolant get to the egr cooler. Engine fan also running constantly under load. Replaced the oil cooler and egr, plugged the exhaust input end of the egr. No more problems with 5 k on it. Hope that is all you have going head gaskets are an expensive deal. Mine is un modified with only a coolant system filter.
There is no residue on the water bottle. Also no smoke thats noticeable. No smoke at startup either. My fan clutch went bad last year,I thought that was the problem.I replaced that clutch and the problem still exists. The fan seems to run alot more these days when pulling though.
On mine the fan was running because of the high oil temp. Now that the new cooler is in and working it almost never comes on. Hope your cooler is the problem and not head gaskets.
