I finally installed my set custom gauge overlay made by Black Cat Customs. I bought an APC one off ebay and it ended up not working so well. The holes were too small on it so the needles did not move like the stock ones. One gauge got stuck as it was wedged in. I was not too impressed with it at all.
So I ordered this one from Black Cat Custom. It looks to be of very high quality and I was very impressed with it. It is in km/h as I am in Canada but he makes ones in mph as well. The blue odometer really looks good and matches my Pioneer stereo.
Looks great!! I wish I would have went with gauges that just light up the numbers when the light are on instead of the whole gauge like mine do but they were very expensive when I installed mine.
Yea, these ones were alot more money then the full light up ones. The APC ones are full light up. They looked like pretty good quality but you could not see the black tick marks very well on the dark blue surround. That and the holes are so small for the needles and they do not allow for the needle stops like the factory and Black Cat Custom ones.
I wish these ones lit up a darker blue, but anything is better then the stock ones that remind me of Christmas too much (red and greed).
Which lights? All of them are clear in the cluster. The new gauge overlay is blue instead of the stock green. So it shines through as blue. Also the odometer is tinted blue on these ones so it shows up in blue. The stock one is tinted green. Makes for a nice change I think.
That would look pretty nice. You can check with the company that made mine. They make custom ones. I am sure they could do it - but it would be pricey probably.
I installed a bezel on mine so the gauges are white and around them is black. When you turn the lights on, just the gauges light up, and there is a switch to choose from blue or green lights.
That looks good. I like the setup of the trans temp gauge. It would be useful there. Have any pics of the gauges at night? What brand of gauges are they?
I see the setup is a little different as the 97 gauges were in a different layout.
The gauges were a set off ebay that I bought 4 years ago or so, so I don't remember the brand, I would have to look through my receipt folder. I have not had any problems with them. They have a switch that you can light the gauges up blue or green. The black around the gauges was also an ebay purchase that was originally stainless steel but I primed and painted them black. I did all this along with all the other stuff on my truck years back when I was single with no kids so I can't remember the brands and such.
i like the way that trans temp is. but i do love the a-pillar look. i found some led bulbs at jegs made by autometer and they come in just about any color you want. it adds a little touch to the color of you gauges and makes them stand out alot.
