starting troubles
disconnect it and use a test light from + on the battery to that wire.
It should be 12volts
then test from that wire - to the small wire on the solenoid +....it should be 12 volts when you turn the key to start.
If yes than that wire is a ground and should be connected to the block.
If you have 2 small wires on the solenoid the one closest to the battery side is from the key switch. The other runs the fuel pump during cranking.
The large terminals are + 12volts from the battery thru the solenoid to the starter.
I put my meter on it and the output is no where near 12v. Digital meter read 3 volts and the analog my dads got read 5 volts. I'm yankin the starter in the morning to make sure it works and they did have a one-post(like the oem one) solenoid there but not sure the difference. Too many choices when it comes to parts o.O
Then disconnect the ground at the neg post of the battery and check the battery again.
If you dont get 12v.... charge the battery (with the ground disconnected.)
If you have 12v with the ground off and only 5 with it connected there is a short somewhere.
If the ground sparks when you try to connect it to the battery (key & lights off)
there is a short somewhere.
you can disconnect the 2 small wires on the battery side terminal of the solenoid (they power your lights & ignition/fusebox thru fusable links)
and see if the ground still sparks when you try to connect it.
