Transmission woes
I'll bet you've all heard this one before. I've got a 78 F-150 that someone put together in their kitchen. Had it for two years without much problems. Sometimes the transmission slips from park to reverse all by itself. Other times it won't drop into reverse or drive until it's completely warmed up. My wife thinks it's haunted and doesn't like to ride in it. Do I just take it for a rebuild or can a novice do something about it?

Sounds like you just need to adjust the shift linkage. Block the wheels, put it in park, go under and loosen the bolt that conects the linkage to the transmission shift arm (make sure it clicks up and down without moving the shifter arm), go back up and make sure the shifter is in park, go under and make sure the transmission shift arm is all the way up, tighten the bolt and you should be fine.
