Just started to develop a miss on cold starts. Was not real cold this morning and it occured (around 30 degress). It has been doing this for probably the last week. Starts up ok and no white smoke. I do notice a little more black smoke but nothing alarming. The miss goes away after a few minutes and smoke clears up. Not getting any codes other than the one I have created. Just seems like one or two injectors are not firing. No romps just not a smooth idle. Wish I had AE to do some CCT tests. :-
Just returned to stock and fired up nice and smooth. Guess I will see in the morning. I did have the ebpv solenoid pluggged in after gutting the pedistal. I'm also running w/o the sensor plugged in so maybe that had something to do with it. Still leaning toward a problem with an injector. Any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks
No, I had it last winter and with the sensor unplugged. I have a plug in the manifold. The only thing I was thinking was maybe the program did not adjust for it ebpv unplugged so returned to stock. I did get a couple of hiccups today why trying to start which was kind of weird.
I don't think the Ebpv would affect your starting. I usually start mine in stock and switch after it warms up anyway. Starting in a higher tune when cold will make more noise, but I've never had a miss. Is your oil old by any chance? Old, cold, thick oil will do funny things to our engines.

No, oil is nice and clean. Running 5/40 rotella syn.
Don't know much about the bully dog, but have you played with different tune settings to see how it changes? Did you get the CPS recall done on your truck between now and last winter?
If the miss goes away without the tuner and changes with different tune settings, I wonder if the new CPS does not like your tuner (unless you've still got a black CPS)

I don't know that much about bully dog either.. I had the grey cps in it last winter. I have a black c99 and seems to get more vibration at idle so I put the grey one in. I really don't think it has to do with the cps but will try to swap it out again if I can't figure this one out. I'm going to do a cold start in the morning on the stock setting so that should be a good indication of the programmer if it is a problem. Sure would be easier than swapping injectors.
Started up this morning in stock program and was a lot smoother but not 100%. I think someone suggested the tin nut in maybe another thread? I guess that is a possibility along with the icp. Last winter running dino 15/40 oil it would romp and die even around 30 degrees and lower so I might have a problem that the synthetic oil is masking. The other thing I changed from last winter was putting a high flow muffler and gutting the flap on the ebpv. Too many different variables...lol........
I switched my truck back to the 75hp tune yesterday after the stock cold start. It's not missing now on a cold start this morning. What the heck. My only thought is the programmer could not adjust fueling correctly. By going back to stock it read the new parameters (ebpv solenoid plugged in now unplugged). Seems kind of weird to me. Maybe my programmer is not very smart.
im goin to lean more towards injectors, or glow plugs. Mine has been doing the same thing yours has, its really a hit or miss with mine. Try plugging your truck in tonight, and see what happens in the morning when you go to start. With mine it does not matter what tune its in. Cause when you start it its either going to be running rough(missing) or gonna be smooth like it is when its warm out. How many miles are on your truck? have you ever done anything to the injectors?
Edit: i try to plug mine in whenever i can so everything is nice and warm and there are no sluggish starts. And the reason im leaning towards injectors, on mine at least is because even after the truck is warmed up the miss wont go away for a bit.
I have 180k on my truck. Never have done any injector work on the truck. Just seems weird that is not missing now. It's kind of hard to troubleshoot because I am not getting any codes and don't have something like AE to do some more advanced tests. From what I have read the injector poppets can cause a cold miss.
