Headlight issue! Please HELP!

Hey guys,

Ok so my truck has been sitting for quite some time. It's an 89 F-superduty 7.3L Diesel, 5 spd with a flatbed on it. So a while back I charged the batteries to try and start it. So to check and see if I was getting any power, I tried the head lights (They worked but very faintly). So the batteries where completely dead after trying to charge them, S i went an bought two new batteries. The truck started up after sitting for about 5-6 years. I changed the oil, fuel filter, and put fresh diesel before letting it sit. So I still need to change the oil, fuel filter, and put fresh diesel in now (But it runs excellent, no chugging nothing!)

So anyways, I need to get it safetied but I'm having an issue withthe head lights working now. So before they worked but not anymore. The dash lights go on, the park lights go one, But no headlights. I checked to see if I get any power to them, NOTHING! Both headlights have no power going to the, ON HIGH OR LOW BEAM!

The tail lights work, the signals work, the park lights work, The dash lights work, the interior lights work, the clearance lights work!!!!! Everything but the damn headlights!

PLEASE HELP!

What the hell is wrong with my headlights? Has anyone had a similar issue? Or know why the hell they aren't working?
Nik

One more thing: The signlas work sometimes, I think the switch is going for the signlas. Would that effect the headlights?

I also had the steering column all taken apart a couple weeks ago, I then put a new ignition switch in.

Would I have hit anything under the column to cause this headlight issue?

Ok I got a headlight switch. I spoke to my old high school auto teacher today (He's a good friend) He used to work for a company like fed ex. All they used were late 80's ford's. He told me they used to have the same issues, The head light switches used to get over loaded from all the lights. He told me the switch would over load. Then it would make a continuous clicking noise, Kind of like a relay.
I get that clicking noise from just above the fuse block, So I think it might be the switch. I'm going to replace it in a hour or two.

Ok So I replaced the headlight switch (Which was quite corroded). It didn't solve my issue!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........

I started to look at other things. I was thinking hey! where is the high/low switch. So I looked at it on the floor, and there was my issue! It was completely corroded! To the point where it was in pieces! So I went to napa which is right around the corner and got a high/low switch. AND............ Wammo! my issue is fixed.

Bump

I have an 89 f150 same problem only I know nothing of this kind of work at all. First I was wondering if I'm looking at the same situation considering I've never seen those trucks insides. The only thing that's different is that I actually smelled something burning when they didn't come on one morning. Same thing though blinkers work brake lights work interior lights work fuse is fine but no high or low lights. Also the floor switch seemed to only click once and not again. Sooooo what I'm asking is if I'm dealing with the same problem and what's the process here. I'm gonna say thanx in advance for patients and help as I'm in dire need of fixing this asap
