tt, you can use a wire or small dowel through the spark plug hole and measure the stroke.
Steve Christ's book says that a 360 is 3.50 and a 390 is 3.784.
It is very highly likely that the truck had a 360 factory installed.

You could drop the oil pan and inspect the casting numbers on the crank shaft. Truck 390's have 2U, 3U, or 2UA numbering.
Other than the crankshaft, connecting rods, and in some cases the pistons, the engines are identical. Hence parts are interchangable.
