ok went to get some dinner and no start. motor cranks but no start but if i just turn the key to on and wait for the fuel to prime and then start right when it stops it will fire right up. should I start with the fuel pump or??????
Thanks for looking and any help or suggestions will be vary great full
Ive had the same problem with mine, same year, same engine, 85k miles and It happened to me twice since I've owned the vehicle. It wouldn't start for me unless I had it at wide open throttle to start. I can't figure it out but I haven't really looked into it because it hasn't bothered me that much. I would say its something with the fuel system, but it could also could be something with the computer. If it happens to me again I will look into it and let you know what I find.
I have a 2002 Expy and it's doing the same thing. I've changed the fuel filter, tried different keys, and checked the relays. It properly starts for a while and then seemingly randomly cranks but will not start. When it doen't start, I do not hear the fuel pump do its 2-3 second prime when the key is turned to the "on" position. My next step is probably going to be dropping the fuel tank and checking or replacing the in tank fuel pump. I'm not looking forward to dropping the tank as I just finished switching to coil springs from the rear load leveling suspension and hate working on my back inverted under a vehicle, then again at least I have leverage with my back against the ground.
now no start at all but I shot some starting fluid in the throttle body and it fired right up and ran for a sec and died. trying to get the fuel filter off but yeah. it has metal clip things not the plastic ones i thought it had. whats the trick with these?
Sorry to hear the fuel filter didn't do the trick for you, but on the other hand it was probably over due to be changed out anyway. I haven't had to change a fuel pump out on mine yet so I can't be much help to you there, however, I know if you do a search on the subject, you'll find all sorts of information on it.
