Downpipes/E40D

Been probing around awhile, looking for answers...

First question, is there a downpipe that will bolt to the stock exhaust. MBRP looks like it might, but not sure. I may end up going with a full system, but truth be known I'm a little on the cheap side. I'm thinking stock system with the muffler "deleted".

Next, I have read that the E40D's aren't really good much past 200k. As luck would have it my 250 has 200k on it. I don't think it is going bad, but it's starting to shift hard. Maybe I should start saving my nickels for a new tranny. I posted this in the tranny section and got know replies. As far as tranismissions would it be wiser to go with one of the high dollar trannys. ATS, BD Diesel performance or just a 1200 dollar rebuilt one.

Also torque converters, Banks worth the cash or put my stock one back in This is a job that I would prefer to do once.

There are several different venders that offer DP's. I believe all of them bolt up directly. You should not have a problem finding one.

I can't tell you much about the E40D, but it sounds like BTS makes a nice one... You'll find more information about them here and in the superduty forum than the transmission one.

Let me know if you have any questions on the BD Transmissions.

You can read more about them HERE.

We also have stage 1, 2, 3 and 4 build kits, you can see them and pricing HERE on pages 13-15.

Also all FTE members gets 5% forum discount on top of the December Rebate program which you can read about HERE.

Hope this helps, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you have.

My downpipe is a Diamond Eye and bolts to the stock system. Got it for $90 from Bean's Diesel. It said it was a MBRP when I ordered it but the box said Diamond Eye. I would take out the Cat (if you can) or at least gut it, as well as taking out the muffler.

For transmissions BTS is probably the best out there. Looking at about $4k for it but it's worth the money. Suncoast is also good from what I hear.
Don't use your stock converter, that's one of the weak links in these. Get a good triple disc converter even if you just do a rebuild on the trans.

If you only want to do it once get a BTS with a good torque converter and don't look back! Also if you take your truck to the BTS shop I believe they will install it for free.

As far as BTS, it's a little far away for a free install. It's tempting though. I really don't want to do the install, I might take it to Bean's when I'm home in TN.
