Need some help guys!!!

Ok so I fixed my manifold leak(bolt head was broke off) PITA! Anyway, I was doin some thorough inspecting and found a few other not so good problems.
-My lift pump is leaking, running down the valley and down on to the bell housing
-My ICP sensor in also leaking
-My fuel filter is black which brings me to believe I have a leaking HPOP issue

What should I do. I know fix it, but is there anything else I should do? Any aftermarket stuff instead of replacing with stock? I do plan to make this a good 350 rwh truck. Any other things I should replace or modify?

Thanks for the help guys! And the info, I know you guys are PSD geniuses

Well... you could upgrade to a electric fuel system and ditch the mechanical pump all together. There are kits you can buy at dieselsite or you can make one yourself.

If you want higher power numbers you'll need to upgrade injectors eventually and will need a better HPOP. I hear very good things about the Adrenaline HPOP's and also the Terminator Engineering HPOPs. I think the Adrenaline would be the way to go IMO.

A black filter consitutes for a leaky HPOP?

Electronic fuel setups are expensive. If your not running some decent mods I'd probably stick with the mech fuel pump.

I've been leaking fuel since the day I purchased my truck. It only does it at startup and it's not bad enough to tear into. Just a pain sometimes. Oh well...

Sorry, was running on lack of sleep earlier...

I think a black fuel filter just means it's time to change it! Maybe you got a bad batch of fuel of something...

There should be no way for oil to get into the fuel filter bowl. I'm guessing bad fuel gummed it up. Clean out the bowl really good, clean the FPR screen, fill the bowl up halfway with Seafoam, slap a new filter in there and put the rest of the seafoam in the tank...

350hp is well within the limits of the mechanical fuel system on our trucks. I think that I actually heard of someone running about 500hp with the stock fuel system. Electric fuel is just more consistent and will make it run smoother, so better economy and power. Pretty spendy though. A pre-made kit runs $1300.

a black filter could also mean injector O rings are disintegrating.....

Or the best case scenario, algae in the tank ...(need an additive) ...

Thanks for the responses! But as far as the pump goes, is there a mechanical replacement that is modified or works better for higher hp apps? And the sensor? Or should I just plan on puttin stock stuff back on? I do plan to do stage 2's and adrenaline HPOP next spring so anything better I can get for the ol truck without goin overboard would be nice

For Stage II's you will probably want to upgrade to Electric Fuel. You'll want to upgrade turbo as well with Stage II's.

I don't think they make a better mechanical fuel pump.

I agree with Rick, black filter probably means injector O rings. Any junk on the screen?

the screen looked fine to me. It used to be my dads truck and i changed the filter about every 15k and it was never this bad before, so idk. Maybe the orings are bad? Atleast i planned on injectors this spring. One of these days this old truck will be tip top again

I can't remember if my filter turned black when my o-rings when to crap. It doesn't sound like your having a miss at idle or excessive smoke at high RPM's so they still must be pretty good yet. I'm sure you'll be able to make it to the spring.

You don't have to run electric with stage two's. I've also heard several reports of the stock system maintaing 500rwhp. That definitely makes it hard to justify a $1300 mod....

My fuel filter is always black when I replace it, 15K.
Fuel in there is clean looking though.

A black filter is leaking injector o rings. The one seperating fuel and oil has gone bad on one or more of them. I just did the o rings on mine the other day and all of the backup rings on top were gone and 3 of the middle fuel o rings were all but gone.
Fuel does recirculate in the system if it's not used so if any oil gets in it it will make it's way back to the filter eventually.
