I would assume that it uses around a half gallon an hour not really sure but i can leave my truck running for about 6 hours a weekend (i know it sounds liek a lot but ive been known to do it) and my fuel milage on highway (70-75mph) dropped from 17 to 15.x or so. Not too bad really I didnt think.

this has been discussed several times, and according to specs, these engines consume 1 gallon every 3 hours at idle.

BUT, just like MPG, not every truck is the same!

During Hurricane Ike my buddy from work told me he found his truck could sit and idle for 32 hrs. while stuck in grid lock traffic trying to leave Houston. Using the 1 gal/ 3hrs that comes to 81 hrs. for a 27 gal tank.
