vacuum modulator
could anyone direct me to a diagram for my transmission...86 ford f150 at(4speed od) i dont know exactly which trans it is...is there somewhere i can look at diagrams...i am trying to figure out exactly where the vac. mod is...i have a 91 explorer...is it similar?? and how to get at it...in the explorer you pull up some panel under the carpet but thinking thats not going to be the case here. any help thanks

You most likely have the AOD. These do not use a vacuum modulator (as far as I am aware). These use a TV cable instead, which is hooked to the carb. I habve no experience with these types of trannies, but there is a lot of info here on them.

i dont exactly have a carb...this truck is a hybrid throw together deal...not sure what a tv cable is either...but i know the trans is an 86
and pretty sure you are right about which trans it is because i sure did not see a vac modulator on that thing
i did the filter change but i didnt empty the torque converter...not sure how...have to look it up

Here's a site with some good info. Get it right before you drive it very far, or you could ruin it.
