Not to be a jerk, but if you're looking to get big horsepower out of your truck by either big mods or cummins swap, and then another thread about an '07 front axle swap; why not go buy a new or newer truck?
You can get big hp from 6.0L with the right tuning, compared to the 7.3L needing injectors, turbo and tuning to get the same numbers. I haven't heard what 6.4L can do, so I can't compare, but I'm guessing you can get even bigger numbers with just some tuning.
What are you plans for this truck? Are you looking for a race truck, towing, sled pulling?
How long have you had the truck and how long have you been modding on diesels? A cummins swap is no easy task for your average Joe. It isn't a matter of clicking buttons and turning wrenches there is a bit of fabbing and wiring the goes along with it.
If your gonna start dumping money just buy a 6.4 and get a DPF delete and a Spartan tuner and you'll be spanking a cummins in no time.
im in my first year of diesel mechanics just starting to learn things. got a good deal on a 2000 f250 and am trying to figure out my options. I believe a cummins swap is the way to go. about the 2007 front axle, my friend recently bought a right off and took the engine and tranny the front axle and coils are just sitting there figured if i could use them may as well its all free.
wow... really getting hammered here... come on guys. simple question was asked, nobody knows what his situation is...
If you want the answers go over to psn. I sent you an email. They have a conversions area and there is a lot of them over there that will help you through the process.
They have a ton of great info. Enough to the point that I was blown away. Usually you get useless crap in those mags but they show you exactly what you need.
Depending on what transmission you plan on running you will need
Motor mounts
Flexplate
Tranny adapter
Computer box to run the tranny
a tach kit so your truck can tell what RPM to display.
ohh and the most important thing... $$$..
it's about $2500-3000 in parts for the conversion.,.. not including the price of the cummins engine.
12v is the easiest one to do. You only have to wire a fuel solenoid and the starter. It get's more involved from there.
That said a 12v swap is not easy by any means... Good luck man

I don't think anyone is intentionally hammering on him. Just trying to get some background. He put up a few posts in the last few days about some MAJOR modifications. There's easier routes to big hp numbers than the 7.3L.
If he has easy access to all this stuff and willing to put in the time and effort, by all means, go for it. We all enjoyed Jeremy's write up when he converted his truck.
Ditto Payson.. Jeremy was and still is a huge storage center for great info. I wish I coulda participated in alot of his threads.. I came in at the end of his reign haha..
And to think.. he's only 90 miles from me.. I was up in Columbia this weekend
