HVAC Noise

Ive searched this but cant find anything with my symptoms.

I get a noise from behind my passenger side dash when I change the vent selector to either defrost, floor/defrost, or vent. It is like something is continually cycling. It is on for a few seconds, then off for maybe one, then back on. There is no noise when the vent selector is on floor only. In any case, all functions work as they should (air is delivered to selected vent or vents) including the temp selector ****.

Ive read about the blend door having issues. Could this be a precursor to blend door failure? Its odd to me because the noise stems from the movement of the mode selector **** not the temp ****. This makes me think its a mode door issue but from what I have gathered the mode door is not behind the passenger side dash.

Anyone else have this noise? Any thoughts on what it could be?

the temp selector door (blend door) is motor actuated. there are 3-4 other doors that direct the air to defrost, floor, or vent, another opens the outside air into the heater. all of these doors are open- close and work off a small vacuum cylinder . It I would guess one of the cylinders has a pin hole, or vacuum hose is loose, etc, and thats what you are hearing.
