More aggressive tread pattern with differant compound and slightly stronger sidewall with reinforced bead area
I also recommend the following tires as I have run all of them with very favorable results (I am now passing 198,000 miles on my F150 "company car" and considering the new Michilin CrossTerrains), all were in the 265/75-16 size:
Bridgestone Dueler A/T
BF Goodrich LongTrail T/A
BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A
Michilin LTX M/S
Michilin LTX A/T

Duane-
The "squealing at 1/2 MPH" is actually the fulltime AWD doing "it's thing" (At least, that's the case with my Expy". I'm currently running Michelin Cross Terrains, and they are really smooth and really quiet (I work at NTB, The Cross Terrain is Michelin's flagship truck/SUV tire. Expensive as hell, too). My next set is going to be some BF Goodrich All Terrains (the Cross Terrains are too "Soccer mom" for me).
Anyhow, I'm not a big fan of the Wrangler RT/S either - My mom's got them on her Explorer and my brother has them on his Expy. They're garbage.

Thanks for the reply. My Expy (and all 98's to my knowledge) do not have the AWD setting, only 2 high, 4 high, 4 low and 4 auto.. which is sort of a cheesy AWD setting. Ayway, more recently I've been thinking I want something more aggresive (for looks if nothing else!) like BFG A/T KO's. Since you work at NTB, what can you tell me about the noise, handling etc of the BFG's vs. the horrendous Goodyears? Does NTB by chance sell the new Nitto Terra Grapplers?
Thanks, Duane

Duane-
I'm planning on outfitting my 99 Expy with the BFG AT KOs. I have Michelin Cross Terrains right now, so I'll be able to give a full rundown of the differences. Personally, I can't stand goodyears - they're rough, noisy, and wear poorly. They also look like hell after about 10K miles - they just look trashy. Since Michelin owns B.F. Goodrich now, I'd trust only Michelin and BFG for my tires. From what I understand, the new generation A/T KOs are 200% better than the first generation - Michelin apparently worked their magic on them and made them "new and improved". I don't care - I just want the monster truck look!
I'll post a full review when I get mine.
Oh, NTB doesn't carry Nitto - couldn't tell you anything.
