Question Steering Column

I am in the process of looking for a column. Have looked in the tips ect, but couldnt find the lenght of the GM columns.I will have to order one since my 56 is floor shifted and I do not want a column key. I prefer to keep the wheel away from me since I am 6'4''. Steering is saginaw with down and forward springs. I located box to match. Orginal column was Cad tilt and tele which feels like Im driving a T. Any advice on lenght and a manuf. ididit or flaming river or others ? Thanks.

This for your 56 f100? Some of the early GM G and P vans (1970-80?) with a four speed had no shifter and the key on the dash, some where a bit long, you need (I think) around 30”. If the Cad tilt wheel was too “tilted” that was because the column was too long and too “flat” (not inclined enough). I’m completely confused about what steering and steering box you have?

Ididit colums come in a variety of lengths, and styles, material options, etc. Here's a link to their universal column page that's very helpful. You can click back for the home page and research all kinds of stuff there, if you wish.

I used a 32" Ididit column, but later shortened it to 30" to get more comfortable seating/pedal position and belly room with the steering wheel and adapter I chose. It's not a difficult job to shorten it.
