05 tow command part number,s?
My '05 SD F350 CC Dually diesel is a Dec '04 build with the early Tow Command controller. I would like to replace it with the later mid '05 Tow Command unit that allows low speed operation. What is the current Ford part number for the later unit?
My newer replacement trailer is a 3 axle Gold Rush. I read a while back that it was adviseable to augment the Tow Commands power supply with a 'in line fused' 10ga wire directly from the positive battery terminal to the T.C. unit. Such to prevent blowing the T.C's factory fuse when braking 3 or 4 axle setups.
This trailer has 3 Dexter 6K axles with the std 12"X2" brake assemblies. Would be bad enough to lose brakes empty, but loaded with drag race car and equip would be to much to bear, bare, beer, oh well, just reply with TC part number and opinion on the additional power supply, OK?

I don't think a new controller is going to do what you want. I believe it is PCM programming that changes how it operates, not the brake controller itself. And I don't think Ford will reprogram it for you. I suggest you research that to see if I am correct before you spend money on a controller.
You could start by emailing Ed at Y2K Ford parts (a site sponsor). I know there are different versions for gas and diesel trucks. If there is an early versus late '05 version, he should be able to find it for you. But I don't think there is.
