A bottle of the BG 244k is like 50 bux at most retail stores. I can get it from my vendor at cost. So its more like 35 for me. Just remember it does NOT lube your fuel system.
Sorry guys I sell it at my work so I know a lil about this product.
Dan, is the 244k for diesel? I know the 44k is for gassers, haven't heard of the 244k.
Guy's, Joe posted up originally in the Excursion forum and I directed him over here because I was hoping someone in the Jersey area could help him out, if help was needed past what we can give him on the forum.
Obviously that Ford dealership is trying to bend him over and show him the business end of a large shaft.
Joe, don't be afraid to ask anything. We'll point you in the right direction for parts and talk you through how to do the labor yourself.
If you think about it, asking the place that sells new vehicles to repair old ones is sort of a conflict of interest. Part of their business model is to keep repair costs at the dealership high in order to make the monthly cost of a new set of wheels seem more appealing. I'm absolutely convinced of that.
That's it... I'm quitting my job and going to work for Ford as a mechanic. You guys keep your mouths shut about overpriced dealership mechanics from now on, I have a family to feed ya know!
Yes the BG244K is for diesels only. The BG44k is for gassers and smaller diesels like your TDI's and stuch. One quart will do 50 gal of treatment. Run some 288 with it to keep it lubed for that tank then go back to using whatever additive you use. Put it in at fill up to ensure a proper mix. It will clean anything and everything it touches. After you run it, you may wanna replace your fuel filter too. It may throw some nasty stuff at it and plug it up.

Problem is that the techs get only so many $/hr for the book time that is called for. The dealership keeps the rest. So for that $60-80/hr rate, the tech gets 1/3-1/4. The techs aren't over priced, well, unless you compare the "general" quality of work to what they get paid.
