Can someone tell me what PSI rating Fuel tubing should be used on the Lift pump? I replaced the fuel lift pump over the weekend and replaced the 3 fuel lines attached to the new pump. I wanted to get high PSI hose but I needed the truck ASAP but all I had on hand was 50 PSI rated fuel line (Plain rubber fuel hose). I hooked everything up and all is working fine but I think that fuel line may blow due to higher presssures of the pump. Does anybody know what pressures relate to the 3 connections on the pump. Should I replace with something better? Thanks Guys!
They all are low pressure, 5-10 PSI. Banjo bolt out to the heads is the high pressure line. The concern would be diesel rated hoses as plain rubber fuel hose would get eaten up quickly by the diesel fuel.
Jim , Thanks a bunch. I obviously dont understand the routing of the fuel in my truck. Can you simply explain the direction of flow from the tank to the injectors. I thought the lines from the banjo bolt were drawing the fuel from the tanks? Im all turned around apparently. I would appreciate it greatly.
Basically fuel is pulled into the low pressure side of the lift pump then back to the filter. From there fuel is sent to high pressure piston on the lift pump to be pressurized. The high pressure fuel goes through the banjo bolt to the rear of the heads. Fuel flows through the heads and at the front of the heads are hoses that goes to the pressure regulator.
