i have a 2002 screw fx4. the other day i put it in 4x4 and started up a hill and it kicked out and then went back in when i stoped, when i went to take it out of 4wd it kinda jurked out. i later tryed to get it to do it when i got home and it seems to be working fine anyone have a idea if something is wrong. also it has done this befor but i was not positive i gave it time to get fully engaged, but this time i did. any help thanks mike
have you checked the fluid in the t-case? somtimes it the level is low when you start to climb a hill it will not engauge to 4wd. but on level ground it works fine.
well t-case fluid has alot to do with it. mine did the same thing, took it in and thats what the guys at ford told me. why it will do it is news to me, i dont know, but they said if there is a low level, the sensor will not engauge to 4wd to protect the gears or somting.
The only electronics that even touch the t-case are the shift motor and the speedo speed sensor wihich neither of them have any idea how much fluid is in the t-case at any time.
