6637 mod on a V10?

Has anybody given a try?

What are the results and are they as good as a high priced commercially sold air intake?

I have a K&N filter in the stock housing and get 1 mpg better towing, but I think I can get more.

Don't think I ever seen anyone try it on a gas engine. You might want to try the Zoodad mod first.

Probably .5 to 2. Highly doubt any more than that personally. Will be giving this a shot in the spring anyway though.

I would think that both the zoodad and K&N together should be worth more than that.

If you're looking for an intake improvement, the Volant CAI kit has a much nicer intake tube than the stock setup. Of course, it won't fit a van

Ok, I posted a reply and it did not show up...
I will do it again.

I was looking at something home made for just that reason, What is you opinion of the zoodad mod? Are there any after market intakes that will work on an E350? I know a Banks will, but I have been told not to bother with anything from them.

Thanks for the link, I read that and it had a link to your headers thread.
I sure wish you could change them that easily in a van.

Even though I haven't posted alot I haven't seen anyone here talk about doing the 6637 Mod. I remember seeing it a few years back and thought about trying it as the aftermarket systems are expensive. When I had my F150 I had cut the front half of the airbox cover off but still retained the lower tabs so it had something to mount to and used a K&N. Then I saw several threads showing the amount of junk getting through K&N's and promptly took it out. I do like the idea of this as cheap mod but the Volant is a really nice looking piece vs. the homemade rig.
I think the Zoodad is worthwhile just to help get cooler air to the intake and it's pretty much invisible unless you really look for the cut outs. I didn't seen any mileage increase when I did mine. I truly think the best way to get better MGP's is to keep your foot off the fun pedal and below 65MPH or 2K RPMS.

I have been running the K&N for over 100K miles and I am pretty happy with how well it filters.

I think I am going to do the zoodad mod.

I really would get better MPGs if I stayed out of it, I know that is true.
I can get 2X the MPGs at 60 that I can at the speed limiter.

Sometimes that BSEG is worth the cost at the pump!

Well, I went to do the zoodad and it will not work.
I do not have anyplace to run the hose through the grill!
The duel a/c condenser takes up all but a couple inches of space.

I did the zoodad and saw no mpg increase. I also made my own front air box cover. Pic in gallery if your interested. What is a 6637 mod anyway?

On my E350 there is not room to do the zoodad, the air box is completely different.

Biggest question is, what do you do with the MAF after you take the stock intake out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think diesels use airflow sensors because they don't need to.

I was thinking I could replace the factory air box but keep every thing from the MAF back stock.
