Would bumping timing help with cold start

Last time i reburnt my chip i think i had Tony bump the timing 4# for the custom cam i was going to use. Any way the truck is starting better than it ever has. Was mid 20's the last 2 mornings and popped right off with virtually no smoke

Doesn't advancing timing usually make starting harder? I know on our old tractors a half a degree timing difference can make all the world of difference in starting. Anyway anyone think it would be worth while having a setting with modified timing for easier starts?

yes sir, i want to say that our eot sensor actually tells the computer to advance the timing on cold mornings, and the oil temp denotes the timing advance,

custom cam you say? did it ever end up getting used? id love to get a fat lope out of mytruck, i do belive thats what a cam only does to a 7.3 does it not?

^^^^ what he said ^^^^

cams will help with spool time and EGT's. some may give you a slight lope, but in order to run a decent cam on a PSD you have to cut the pistons for valve reliefs.

I ran a modified cam for about 50 miles and it did lope decent and had awesome low end, but no mid range power because I couldn't get the turbo to spool hardly at all. Was creating too much valve overlap. I talked with Beans and WOP and they said you need to run north of 4,000 to make it work well.

I took mine out for a used stock cam because i need low end and was having valve to piston clearance issues
