I'm just throwing this out there - could it be vacuum related? When you step on the gas vacuum drops to nothing. I would think that if the heating system was working properly there would still be residual heat coming thru when you are stopped. I've not had to work on heating systems before, that's one thing that has always worked on my cars (knock on wood).
When the van is moving or when I step on the gas the heat works great. When I come to a stop and idle the heat goes cold. Any Ideas?
Thanks
Doug
My wife just called me and said her eclipse was doing the exact same thing to her this morning. I'll take a look at hers and let you know what I find out. May be the same problem.
If it is vacuum related, hold your hand over the front defrost vents next the heat goes away. Default setting is defrost, so hot air coming out there with selector on "HEAT" mean a vacuum line problem.
If vacuum related & the distribution door is moving when it should not be, you should be able to detect a change in the air flow, you will hear it change direction.
Check your rad for low level & top it up to the bottom of the filler neck if low.
