thermostat location

where is the thermostat on 91 7.3L

Follow the top radiator hose to where it connects to the thermostat housing on the engine. If you change it get one from ford or international as there has been a lot of reports of aftermarket ones not working. Have you checked the level of protection of your antifreeze, you can't by looking in your radiator as the top may look normal and the bottom be like jello.

i am not sure how to check the level of protection of the antifreeze

Thermostat housing is silver in the picture.

Check the specific gravity of the coolant with a hydrometer to find the protection level of your antifreeze.

it can be done by any autoparts store as well, or the dealer. It is better to know than think everything is ok. If you want to have one, go to the parts store! They are cheap.

go to napa etc a buy a tester for like two dollars suck some coolant out and see how may ***** float!!!
