speedometer not working above 40 mph
Above 40 mph it drops to zero.Cruise still works and regular odometer still works.Its a 1999 F-350 super duty diesel4x4 dually with an automatic transmission.Any ideas??Thanks in advance.

It should be a digital VSS. I want to say the green or the black with pink stripe wire under the dash should be the VSS signal, but double check a check sheet to be sure. The VSS wire should read 0 at 0mph and go up to around 5v at speed. Might be something worth looking at to verify the sensor is working at 40mph+.

Thanks to all who replyed.It was the speedometer cluster that needed an R&R.The difference was that the odo was working.I understand that if the vss was bad it would have not worked the odo or speedometer.And i didnt have any shifting problems etc. Thanks again
