Hello, I just fell into a 95' F150 4X4 XLT extended cab 5.8L. I am rebuilding the front end and ran into something weird. The driver side radius arm has fine threads on the bushing end and the threads extend about an inch +, past the nut, the pass side has course threads and the threads that stick out past the nut are only about a 1/2 inch. It looks like something happened on the driver side in the past because the bolts that hold the radius arm mount are much smaller than the ones that hold the pass side on. Both arms look to be the same age I was thinking maybe the driver side arm with the fine threads is off a 3/4 ton? I would think they are stronger than the course thread. Does anyone know which one the truck is suposed to have. And did Ford use different mounting bolts for the bracket?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to look at a friends truck to see how his is, it's a 3/4 ton.
The truck should have come with the coarse thread like the pass. side. As far as the mount bolts....they don't have bolts from the factory, they are rivited on. Usually people cut the rivets off to change the bushings. Hope this helps.
It must be aftermarket, I check a similar truck and it has the short course thread style. I forgot to mention it has a 4" lift on it and the brakets for the radius arms are for the lift kit so duh, no wonder they have bolts on them.
Nope, it doesnt' look like that! The brackets are actually from Superlift Suspension Systems 4" kit. They have pictures of the brackets on their site. I'm just going to get a course thread arm from a bone yard and call it good.
