Well i just went through 5 peices of paper with math all over them to try to figure out the ride height of that truck using measurements i know off of my truck and i tryed figureing out the scale i use to be able to do that easy then scale things and get accurate readings but i havent done that in a long time so im not gona bother with it and ill just save the effort and the slightly bad language for a 16 year old and not bother lowering this truck at all.....
Alright thanks i have a picture i got off here Its not mine but to who ever owns it, great ride you did a good job. But i would like my truck to sit like this
If you will look closely at this pic he is not running beams. He has a Mustang II Front end.And he is probably running bags cause with the tires stuffed like that the turning radius is limited.
But drop beams with bags I think that will get you where you want to be.
Ok thanks flatford! you gotta have the coolest truck around here. although it would look better with the roof choped down a few inches.. but
I think im going to go with a half hanger flip in the rear or full depending on how low i wana go in the rear. and i might go with the AIM kit in the front.. I wish i could cut and weld on to the origional front ibeams... but i dont trust that very much..
Some advantages of going with a prepared ket:
1. Your time is worth money. How many hours will using a prepared kit save you?
2. The kit maker will give you data for alignment purposes. Using the DJM kit, When I took it in for the alignment, I was told it was almost spot on.
3. If you start cutting and welding on those beams, do you know what the effects are going to be on the metallurgy? I don't but you know the major kit makers have done their homework.
Nice truck!
Could i get that stance with the rear end height with the half hanger mod or would it be lower or higher? if its the same thats fine if its lower ok but i dont really want it higher because i was going to put bigger wheels in the back then the front. Im going to spend a day or two trying to figure out what size wheel tire combo i want with what drop i want.
Thanks! Well our truck could come down a little more in the back by a couple of inches to make it sit level. Ours is the F150 with heavy springs, so I think F100 springs would sit lower in the rear than ours. Also the rear kit has two holes for adjustment on the back shackle arms. Each hole changes the drop about an inch. We are using factory shocks on the rear, and the DJM drop shocks out front.
Alright thanks because im ordering some parts from Lmc and rear shocks were kinda something i desperatly need. And i got f 150 also... another thing.. hows the ride in it? is it rought or nice and smooth?
The front handles and rides awesome, and the rear is better than it was before, but thats probably from the new shocks. The back always rode stiff, but thats from the heavy rear springs. After you lower it and take it for a drive, you will think its a different truck, the road is way closer than it used to be, and also getting in and out feels different too.
Alright thanks. right now i dont know how my truck feels to drive.. all i know is using my imagination why the engine is running thinking of me driving around with my girl in the passenger seat... the clutch is blown and the brakes dont work at all... so yeah im gona restore her cause if i fix the problems now i will never get around to restoring her.
I know how that is. I think your doing the right thing by researching what you want to do and getting info on what parts actually work. Take your time and you will be happy with the end result, the first drive is always the best after a rebuild!
Yup Im trying to build her right. for two reasons if i do it right i dont have to do it again.. and ill have the coolest truck in the school parking lot.
