so for some reason whenever i go to park my truck, as soon as i put it into park it starts to idle super fast then backfire a bit. i installed a new ignition control module today cause it used to bakefire while driving, but it didnt take care of the park backfire proble,. whats wrong with my truck?
Here's some free advice - replacing the ignition module was a waste of money. Now you're out some $50 with no improvement. My point is, it doesn't make sense to replace parts until you've done an objective diagnosis to pinpoint what's actually wrong.
Anyway, the high idle speed is most likely due to the curb idle on the carburetor set too high, timing over-advanced, or a vacuum leak leaning out the fuel mixture. Obviously the carburetor needs to be dialed in.
