6 disc changer
I have a 97 expy XLT, had a AM/FM/Cassette from factory, changed to Ford in dashAM/FM/CD. I found a 6 disc changer in the boneyard in a 97 XLT. I grabbed it for a song. Gotthe wire harness as well. Hooked it up to the unit in the dash and NO CD message. I still have the old AM/FM/Cassette unit from the truck, hooked it up and the changer plays perfectly. Question is: will the 6 disc changer work with the factory in-dash CD player? Or is it that if you have a CD player in dash the changer won't work? As always, thanks

You can't use a indash 6disc with an external changer unless it's a lucky 2002 or newer radio. In an older thread here, we describe the test process that tells you if you have the CD-DJ feature that allows both to work together.
If you have a single CD and want the 6disc it should work, but there might be some issues with the cable.
