i think that is his sight.

its not really manual control, its just an on and off switch sorta deal. Lets the computer still handle the GP's, but gives you the option to say "no"

Holy crap. $69 for a switch and some wire. You don't even need the solenoid, you already have one.

Well my relay is out right now I tested it the other day after reading threw the post on here. Before I buy a new one and replace it I like the idea of being able to turn the gp system completly off or on manualy. I live in Texas and the gp system isnt neede in the summer time so if I can keep from it getting used for half the year my thinking is parts should last twice as long So thats why I have been reserching all this stuff and you guys have been extreamly helpfull the link I posted at the beginning of this thread I found on a google search this morning and I was curious if any of you knew how that worked or knew what he was doing with that kit if I can just look at a schematic of it I can figure out if i want to use it or do something diffrent. I studied the 94-97 Federal Glow Plug System schematic and tell me if im wrong but could you just cut the wire from the pcm to the gpr. Since its a ground to close the circuit could you run that wire from the pcm to a switch in the dash then from the switch to a ground and do the same thing the pcm does but manualy and not let the pcm control the system all together. I appologise if you all have coverd this I probly overlooked it somewere if you did or havent gotten to that part yet lol their is a ton of usefull info on this site and have already recomended it to a buddy of mine that has two powerstrokes a 95 the twin to my truck and a 2000 and he has some issues to work out as well but any ways thanks for yalls help and I have tons of other questions I just dont want to wear out my welcome haha.

I

here you go. I got un-lazy and went and found it.
Specially since the guy who runs the sight posted and didn't even brag up his own mod. =)

I have a simple two post switch to turn mine off I spliced into the small wire on the top and wired it in line to a switch, works well I still use my GP,s in the summer for first start up to try and prevent carbon build up on the tips of the glow plugs.

Arrow

This is what I did, thanks to Plowhand:
to do the glow plug switch, locate the glow plug relay (looks like the starter relay thats on the fender) on the front right (passengers side) of the engine, under the cover. There will be two big wires and two small wires, disconnect the two small wires or unplug them if yours has the plug. With a volt meter or test light, find the one that has power when the key switch is turned on. Cut this wire, add enough wire to go inside the cab to the dash, attach a switch, run wire back to the other end of the cut wire and attach. Re-connect the two small wires to the relay. Your "Wait to Start" light will still come on, but your glow plugs will not have any power unless you flip the switch. And this way lets the PCM turn off the glow plugs if you leave them on.

BTW, is that true?, because, I almost never use the GPs. What are other opinions, maybe I should use them in the first star

And this is pretty-much what this "kit" does. It's the standard $25-ish relay, a coupla bucks worth of wire and switch, and a diagram. IOW, about $30 worth of stuff for "only" $60! For this much money, you could get a Stancor relay (which would be way overkill in Texas) online, and your own switch and wiring at your FLAPS.

And I wouldn't trust a seller whose ad has a gazillion badly formed HTML tags in it, and who calls a relay a "solenoid".

I just cut the big wire (positive) and installed a simple toggle switch inside. Like Waljon, I run them on the start up the day then shut them off for the rest of the day.
