Intake manifold removal
While driving my engine surges like there is vacume leak, the engine hesitates then power will come. When I pop the hood it does sound like a whine from the manifold area....I believe my gasket for my intake manifold needs to be replaced. Would this be a nightmare to do for a home mechanic? From what it seems lots of parts need to be removed.... ugh

It's really hard for me to see what engine you have from here...
If a gasser, they are quite easy as far as intakes go. Yeah, quite a few parts need to be unbolted, but that is the case on all modern engines.

That is probably the easiest of all.
Use the money you save by doing it yourself to get a factory service manual and you should have no problems.
Remember, most bolts are threaded into aluminum, so follow the required torque specs religiously.

Wow, that is a pretty big leap, from "my engine is surging and making a whining noise" to "I need to replace my intake manifold gaskets."
There are about 30 things I would look at prior to jumping in and replacing those gaskets, like torn or leaking vacuum hoses, bad sensors or a bad COP.

I think it took about 30 hours of dirty hands time to change out 1 head. I took my time and probably wasted 3-4 hours on stupid things like the fuel line connections at the rail.
If I had to do just the intake gaskets, I'd guess it would be done in about 3 hours.
I don't really recommend loctite as I think it impacts the factory specified torques.
