I was looking at a listing for a "1994 Ford F150 2WD Regular Cab" and grabbed this picture of this engine, labeled as "3800 / Tuned Port Injection", according to the listing a 6-cylinder w/standard transmission. I don't know what engine this is.
Its probably a Buick. The ad picture was mixed up. It should be obvious that, due to the transverse engine installation (FWD) and strut towers, that this is not a pickup truck but a passenger car.
Way back in 85 or 86 when I worked at a mini truck wrecking yard in California. A guy came in with a 79 Courier with a Toyota Corrola front clip grafted on, it also hada front wheel drive engine in it, but I can't remember what it was out of. He said he did it, just for something to do.
He also had a Jeep CJ7, that he put the dash, tail lights, engine, tranny and transfer case and other Bronco 2 parts on it.
If he still around, I can only wonder what other combinations he has done since then.
Looks like a later Monte Carlo to me - I had to do a water pump on one a few months back and the belts & valve covers, intake and all look real familiar in a creepy sort of way.
There ain't no such animal as a front wheel drive Ranger with a transverse engine...
Not the same, that style engine cover hasn't been used since the late 80's early 90's. the newer ones don't have the half cover. What you would have worked on would have been a 3800 series II, that is the 3800 series I
What I can say for sure is that the pump only fit in one position, had no markings to indicate it, and the bolts were flimsy as all get-out!
Y'know how it is sometimes: It was for a friend of mines son, by no means a collector of worthwhile rides, and it had to be done so he could get to work and back.
Ya do stuff like that, try not to think about it, and move on...
