We just bought a run-down 1000 square foot-ish house for $450,000. Everyone is saying we got a real bargain. Uhhh ... really?

Someday I'll go back to Texas and kick my daughter out of our "real house"!

Cloudy, 71*F, 100% humidity. felt like 8o out there today. 27* thursday morning is what we are looking at. Where else do you run the heater going to work and the a/c comming home today, and run the a/c to and the heater home tomorrow? this goes on for about 3 months every fall/winter, and about 2-3 every winter spring... Gotta love that east texas weather...

Short days and artic winters gives you time to catch up on indoor sports so look on the bright side.

Speaking of horses, I guess we could collect methane from the horses, cattle, and the city dumps.... for lack of wood, coal, and anything petroleum.

Last night ...over the last several nights the History Channel has had How the Earth was Created or something like that running.

4.75 billion years old.
Methane, carbon monoxide/dioxide and sulphur dioxide atmosphere originally.
Radioactive material heated the planet hot enough to completely melt everything.
Water arrived by metorites.
New York City south of the equator.
New York City under a mile deep pool of lava.
New York City moved to the northern hemisphere by continental drift.
New York City under a mile deep glacier.

Average temp changes a couple degrees and suddenly we have global warming.

Wonder how hot it was when the entire planet was molten?

2000 degrees or so like lava would be my guess.

What I liked was the fact that all the water we have on the earth arrived here one or two drops at a time in meteorrites. I wander how many they figgure had to hit to form the atlantic.

That is a great series on the History Channel. The earth is almost 5 billion years old and man has been around for only a fraction of that time. The planet will be here long after we are gone.

Man can pollute a river and chop down a forest, but we can't effect the climate. Climate change is measured over centuries not mere decades.

This is all about controlling the populations behavior and making money

BTW is is 73 degrees this morning with a water temp of 81.
What is a block heater?

Try here, 0 F with a 10 or 15 below wind chill.

Still not cold enough to plug in though.

Sorry but more taxes are the driving force behind global warming.

Global warming has almiost every coal mine here shut down with fear of the cap and trade BS.

Think I am going to quit my job, sell my truck and sit at home.
Sooner or later all of that assistance will kick in and then I can buy a new house and truck.

You need to be a little more patriotic and get off some of that tax money and buy me a new house and truck. Thats how it's suppose to work.

Sorry I am all tapped out.

Income tax
Real property tax
Personal property tax
Sales tax
Highway use tax
Excise tax on almost everything
911 tax
Employment taxes (social security, unemployment and Medicare)
Truck license
Electricians license
Plumbers license
State contractors license
City contractors license in several cities and towns
B&O tax
State business registration

I know there are several more I am not thinking of right now.

Right now my tax load is about 65% of what I make.

Why am I working this hard so somebody else can decide where my money gets spent?
