New to the forum, just introducing myself. First time posting after registering, been reading alot here the last few weeks, decided I'd like to join. Y'all seem like a great bunch of folks and a real asset to anybody involved w/ this hobby! So, thanks so far!
Thanks, glad to be aboard! My name's Mike, I work in the parts dept. at a Ford & L/M dealership. Today, my uniform shirt is -black- (as in Johnny Cash Black), and the server did'nt like my first couple of choices of usernames, so... LOL.
After reading alot of the threads here, I think I can offer some help myself, coming from a background of 12 years of Motorcraft parts and Ford dealership experience. Nothing like actual working garage know-how when it comes to playing cars, lol!
So that said, if there's anything I can do to help any of y'all, it would be my pleasure. Because my new flathead F2 project, even tho it's 57 years old, might as well be brand new to me, and I'm -SURE- I'll need help from y'all!
On second thought, maybe that username isn't so bad, I guess I could name my project "and it didn't cost me a dime"...yet...LOL My intension is to get it rolling on the cheap, and I've already got four BFG tires that are close enough to the right size to work, and were too old to stay on a truck that's for sale. Still perfectly good enough tread for what i'm using them for.
Race weight and horsepower???!?! LOL It don't even run yet!!! -AND- I've been told a 100 hp flathead 3/4 ton truck only went about 55 mph, anyways! LOL Thanks for having me, y'all.
Welcome to the board!! always good to haev another Bonus Built truck around here, even if it is one of the buck-toothed ugly stepsisters...lol (just kidding...we have a long standing friendly rivalry between those of us with the sexy 48-50 trucks and the others....the 51/52 trucks)
Having another Ford parts guy will be a big help as well. We have another member who pipes in from time to time that is a retired Ford parts guy. He's always a tons of help with coming up with part numbers.
Thanks again! And BTW, It's my understanding that "buck toothed" looking grill had another nickname at the time, after a popular busty entertainer of the era? I believe theyre called "Dagmars"? Might have made more sense if there wasnt three of them, tho...LOL
I think that theDagmar or "busty entertainer" reference was for the rubber bumper protuberences on the mid 50's cars. I've never heard of the 51/52 trucks refered to as Dagmars, but then again, I'm just a pup
Yea, the three teeth would make the Dagmar reference a bit odd, allthough I've always been of the opinion that a third...uh....er...protuberance would be a good thing. Especially if it was placed right between the shoulder blades. It would be a great thing for dancing!
