I was wondering who makes the best replacement interior door panels. The ones that came with the truck were trashed and the ones I had from LMC dont fit right at all so I was wondering if you guys have had any luck with any other ones.
I would **assume** that the same manufacturer for the replacement covers is also what JC Whitney sells. And...if memory serves me correct it's Coverlay Manufacturing, which is the same one that makes the dash pad covers.
1980-1999 Medium duty trucks used the same door panels and dash pads as the 1980-1986 pickups. A Large Truck wrecker, or Ford themselves is the best bet for late model or NOS or New Replacements.
They were still avaliable in Gray for the door panels and Charcoal Grey, (almost black looking) for the dash pad last time I checked at Ford. (But stuff goes obsolete all the time). But you would still have to dye or paint to match.
Agreed on the junkyard angle. I'm doing a frame-off restoration on an 85 myself. So far, the best money I have spent is on an 86 parts donor truck that I paid $300 for. For $300 I have a complete interior that is in far better shape than the restoration candidate plus a ton of other stuff that I would otherwise have to buy separately.
Yea I planned on doing some looking at the junkyard, only problem with living in the rust belt is alot of the trucks dont stay at the yard very long. Im sure 2 and 92 might have something though. What do you guys recomend as far as paint or dye? Im pretty sure im going to change the interior from blue to dark gray with some silver accents but im not 100 percent sure yet. The dash in my truck was originally blue and then someone painted it black and it just over all looks like crap.
