HEY CHARLIE!!! help me out here a bit maybe I explained it wrong ?
I didn't get to see what was in there, he pried it out & put the new one in while I stood outside the door & watched him sitting in the driver's seat. My Zone manual doesn't show what's there unless it's in a different section.
don't want that one, that would be like keeping 2 of mine, only would cost more money

end of the key cyl turns a brass gear, which pushes the rod, which engages the switch. if key is working, and rod is moveing, switch is probably loose.rod is just shoveing it up and down on the column, and not engageing. when you are yanking on the rod, you are distorting it to make the switch work. evenyually you will bend the crap out of the rod, so that it will NEVER AGAIN WORK.............. how's that JR?

Not yanking, just wiggling side to side. That's what I meant when I said it felt sloppy. Is it supposed to have that much play? Is that brass gear you're talking about what Jr. called an actuator?

well like you said charlie on the end of the key switch or cylinder is a cog -and it intertwines with a flat actuator with grooves on it -that attaches to the rod then down to the actual electric part on the top of the column the switch -it's complicated to explain

ok. let's try this again. THE SWITCH IS LOOSE PAT. TIGHTEN THE DAMN SCREWS BEFORE IT FALLS OFF.
Will try that in the A.M. when it gets daylight again.
It should be on the top of the column about half way down from the top -slightly to the left side just feel just below the dash on top ~you should feel the rod cover or the rod itself just follow it down to the switch -it has 2 screws in it If i remember right
now my CRS is kicking in
what was I talkin about ?

Thanks Jr. Wasn't sure exactly where it was. Not fond of standing on my head to look under the dash, too old for that. Back in my younger days......
