The GPR has gone intermittent. New GPR, just replaced, probably old GPR was okay, bummed.
Just noticed since the weather has gotten colder. Get a normal WTS lamp, no codes, usally does not start first try.
Last weekend found out that the GPR is not operating every time I turn on the key. Sometimes, it takes 6 or more trys to get the GPR to latch. (checked with a voltmeter). When the GPR latches, she fires like normal.
Any help??? Are there any sensors that can cause this??
Make sure the connections at terminals 3 and 5 are good and that the connectors and wires are in good shape.
Also make sure the connector to the EOT sensor on the back of the HPOP reservoir is tight. The PCM controls operation of the GPR depending on the engine oil temp. Intermittently bad EOT sensor could cause a problem with GPR operation.
I just had the same issue with my f350. The GPR was a year old from a national chain of auto parts stores....o' reilly's I think. I checked all the incoming voltages and I had everything but the output. I put a new stancor relay on.... see guzzle's psd page for the stancor mod. It can be as simple as a fried GPR.
Thanks guys, but I'm afraid my issue is somewhat more complicated.
Just spent 2 hours checking everything around the GPR and everything works perfect! Of course, the engine is warm from the commute home, but the GPR is cycling just as it should and the glow plugs are all lighting - nothing even hints at being intermittent.
I'm going to put the meter on it in the morning when it is COLD and verify that all the voltages are correct. All the wiring looks steller, all connections are good and snug. Guess I can always operate the relay with a ground wire if i have to.... Not what I want to do first thing in the morning!
Anyone have a diagram of where all the engine sensors are??
