Running Flathead $$$$$$
I have a running 239 flathead in my 51' F-6 Dumptruck, that I am looking to sell, and have someone interested in buying this weekend. My question is, "what is it worth"??? I know nobody will have an exact $ amount, but if someone could get me in the range of what it is worth, that would help a ton. I will be rebuilding the carb this week (the accelerator pump doesn't work) but other than that it runs good.
Basicly I will be taking the cab off and selling everything else. So, if anyone needs the F-6 frontend, any of the drivetrain, it has a 2-speed diff., working PTO and hydraulics for the dump body. I will even be selling the dump body. I plan on measuring it up and going to build one out of aluminum.
I have several sets of heads for the flathead, 2 intake manifolds, several starters, generators, carbs, clutchs, bellhousings, fans, etc. The dump body has a lot of extra parts in it, I woun't be needing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you done a compression test? not a for sure tell all as far as condition goes but one less thing. I paid $500 for a running flathead and it had 2 cylinder to valve pocket cracks, not sure if a compression test would have told me that thought> it would have shown the 0 compression on another cylinder due to rusted/corroded valve seat thought.
I bought an expensive block used for mockup purposes to built a new rear cross member, ouch...

I've sold a previously running flathead, but with a 4" Mercury crank, for $500. This was the complete engine, less the carburetor. Even included the radiator. The only issue was that the head bolts were partially broken off and stuck in the block on one side.

I planned on doing a leakdown test on the engine one night this week. I am waiting on the carb. kit to show up, so I can get it put back together and put back on. You get a more realistic reading with the engine up to temp. on a leak down test. Thanks for the price. I was thinking somewhere between $600.00 - $750.00. I will be posting alot of this stuff for sale soon. I read on here that alot of members don't like the classified section here????? Is this true, and if so, where is the best place (where does everyone look to buy used "fatfender" parts?) to post all this stuff.

please give us first crack.. I can't PM you yet, I think you need more posts? I'm curious also about the going rate of running flatty's I have a good runner here still in the truck. I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or not.
You wouldn't happen to have a set of rear axle spring plates with the shock mount for a 3" axle?

I do not have any spring plates other than the ones on my F-6. I am sure they would be bigger than you are looking for. I would be glad to offer the engine to someone on here. If anyone is interested, just contact me. My phone number and e-mail address are in my original post. Like I sad before, everything but the cab is for sale. I know alot of the guys on here don't like the idea of not going back original, but I have a vision of what I want to accomplish with this project, and I don't need any of the original parts to do it. Not looking to make a ton of money (maybe a dollar or two) on the parts, just want to find a good home for them and help out someone that might need them. If you guys need any of this stuff, just let me know.

Thanks Bob !! I went Friday, but got there a little late, and NO WAY to see everything in one short day. I don't think you could see everything if you went all 3 days!!!!!!!Great show though

2 Speed Diff.????
I finally got a couple of spare minutes to go out and look at my new "baby" this weekend, and started taking pictures for the wifes scrapbook. I notices a larger diaphram canister on the differential. Am I correct in assuming this is a 2 speed diff?

Were these running engines? Were you actually able to start them up and hear them run? I would think that would make a difference on the price of one of these?

Yes, two speed differential. There should also be additional vacuum lines and housings on the firewall in the engine bay.
