1945 ford flathead and trasmission complete

I have a 1945 Ford flathead V8 and transmission complete from carb to oil pan. I was wondering if anyone was interested in it and what it may be worth. Head code is 59D and the bell housing also has 59. Was on the back of an old farm truck running a pump of some sort I was told. Needs rebuild. Any help would be great. Thanks, Jim

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

The 59 and 8BA series blocks are the more desired flatheads to build up. Early post war 59 blocks were supposedly cast with higher nickel content iron. Some sources say the cylinder walls are a bit thicker on the postwar blocks also. I'd say your next step is to strip it down to see what you have. Look for cracking on the decks between the cylinders and valve pockets, studs & coolant passages. Also look for cracking along the pan rail. Hopefully you have a good one to build. As far as value for what your pictures show, for a seized engine about $100.00. If its free maybe 200.00
