My headlights will always turn on when I release the parking brake. I have been watching other trucks, and have yet to see another obs truck do it. I don't mind, just curious. It's like the bulb has 3 settings, a ultra low beam that turns on automatically, low beam and a high beam.
Not to worry. My truck does the same thing. Turns out my truck was a canadian truck so it has daytime running lights. Check the history on yours or check to see if the labels under the hood have french writing on them. There is a daytime running light module (drlm) on the truck. I am sure you can remove it but I have decided to live with mine the way it is.
Yes, Nate is right. In Canada, it was legislated to have daytime running lights on ALL vehicles with a production date of 1991 or later. I think the states brought that in in the late '90's. My '93 Aerostar, and '96 F350 , etc, all do the same. It is a pain if your batteries are low......
Makes sense. It came from northern Idaho somewhere. It has the MPH speedo though. I hope it wasn't a Canadian truck and then somebody swapped out the speedo for an American one.

Its the same truck if its american or canadian, if it has daytime running lights and from the sounds of it it does, you very likly have a canadian truck, for a while you could not find an OBS powerstroke as they were all being shipped south. My friend who worked at a dealer said as soon as one came in on a trade in it was loaded up and shipped south.
To confirm you can always car fax the truck or maybe do a search on the VIN at a dealer, I wounder if they can give you information on that.

Mine was a Canadian build and has the MPH speedometer too. I think you're okay.
