Odd exhaust issues.
It is my first time posting here, I am working on a '76 F150 with the 390 V8 and a Holley 4bbl vacuum secondary. Its a 2wd with a 4-speed auto (C6 I think) from a '74 Ford. I have true dual exhaust (manifolds not headers) and one exhaust is quite a bit warmer than the other. It doesn't run badly so I am pretty sure that all my cylinders are firing. Why would one exhaust be so much warmer than the other?
Thanks,
Nate
Look on the left exhaust manifold, there should be a valve that is mounted between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe. If the valve is frozen shut it will continually divert exhaust from the left side through the base of the intake manifold to the right side exhaust.
This valve should be closed when the engine is cold and open as the engine warms up.
The purpose is to aid in cold weather operation by warming the carb up quickly.
Also, the C6 is a 3 speed transmission
