I am interested in buying a 2000 f350 crew cab 6 speed 4x4 for super cheap. The problem is the owner does not know what is wrong with it. It will run for a bit, then die, then wont start back up for an hour or so. He says it has a little grey smoke when it starts when cold, but other than that no indication of whats wrong.
we need more info than that! When it dies. . . is it like somebody turned the key off? when you try to start it again. .. what happens? Does the oil pressure guage come up? Does it stumble? Does the Tach come up? Give as many symptoms as you can. The more info the better. Thanks.
Timmy
Check to make sure it doesn't have a dead hole (really bad blowby) or any other obvious issues. As Timmy said, we can't be of much help without more info. Let us know if you decide to get it.
Ok well i talked to him again. I guess he was driving when it just died. He couldn't get it to restart so he had it towed back to his house. It sat for a couple of months then he charged the bats and everything on it. He then had his buddy come over to help him with it. It fired right up and seemed to run great, but then as soon as it gets warm, it will die and will not restart again. I asked if all the gauges worked when he crank's on it, he wasn't sure but he thought they did work including the tach. The check engine light does come on when it dies and wont restart. That's about all he knows. He had glow plugs installed about a year ago at the ford dealership, and i guess at the time they also replaced the injector wiring harness in the valve covers. All the fluid levels are good as well.
