Well I am driving the 59 again for awhile but the damn brake lights aren't working........again.
Seems once a year i have to replace the pressure switch. I think what is happening is that as the brakes are applied the contact in the switch arcs a bit and over time the contacts burn.
The same kind of switch is in the Plymouth and after 3 years i haven't replaced that one. Maybe the NAPA switches aren't any good ?
Any suggestions, opinions.
I have seen a company that makes a mechanical switch i can mount to the pedal to get rid of the pressure switch activation.
In all my trucks, even with the ones that I have had electrical issues I have never had a pressure switch fail. But what you could do I suppose is convert to a system like a 1973-86 Ford has and mount a switch on to the brake pedal itself inside the cab. They work like you courtey lights on a door and simply cutoff by pressure from a stationary piece of metal hitting a switch.
