Hey guys. I have a 69 f250 which was given to me 5 years ago. I have no title for it and i need to get it in my name. The old owners didn't care about paperwork back then and probably wont now. How can i get this thing registered in my name so i can get it ready for the road? Just have the old owners sign a bill of sale and then i can fill out a lost title form? I live in California so i know its a pain in the butt. Any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks
I don't know the rules about registering in California other than hearing that it's difficult. Could you get it registered in Oregon or Nevada and then "import" it? Or even register it by mail in an easy state and get a plate etc. mailed to you, then transfer to California registration?
Another option is to buy a rusted out wreck of the same year with current plates, register that and then transfer over the data plate etc. As for any color difference, tell them you repainted it.
Make enquiries from a payphone to an office you won't use, ha ha.
