My 76 F250 High-Boy has some serious interior woes. Mice and sun damage just dont cover it. Im replacing everything new that I can find. Unfortunately, I cannot find anything to replace the dash with other than this "dash cap". If that thing is exactly what it says it is, there is no way I will be able to get it fitted up properly and get what I want for a finished product out of the stupid thing as the old dash is literally mangled and peaked up by sun damage. Is there an entire dash kit I can purchase somewhere or do I have to make do with this "dash cap"?
just keep looking on e-bay, and craigslist. you will find one. get a seat from up to 1996 F-150 or 1997 f-250 and 350 model years, they have head rests and cup holders, you will need your original seat tracks to bolt to the new seat. looks like you need blue seat, lots in the junk yards. there have been a lot of these trucks traded in with cash for clunkers
ill watch the sites for the dash i suppose. as far as the seat, i have one picked out that is really cool and will go outstanding with my interior plan. check it out Truck Seats Custom Chevy Ford Dodge GMC Truck Seats American Lowback and it even has an adapter kit for my seat rails listed below the pic for only 45 bucks.
also, the blue isnt staying. i am repainter her black cherry pearl or a dark gray metallic, cant decide which. When i do that, also i am going to have the interior painted black and gray kinda like the seat is.
A black dash pad from broncograveyard.com runs $219 and colored ones $230. Very good quality and fit
Oh boy, I would think for that price I could get the whole dash assembly? I dont know this is the first dentside I've personally built from the ground up so there is a lot I have to learn yet. I think Ill shop around, if I cannot find something else I will look into that, thanks.
I am not one that likes to paint plastic, but I have had pretty good luck with the paints you can buy at any auto store. I pulled a sun-faded brown dash out of a 79 lariat in the junk yard for $20. It was still soft and had no cracks. (Wish I had pulled the cb/radio antenna and wiring too) I had my girlfriend clean the dash pad really well with soap/water and a magic eraser. Let it dry for a day and shot it with black interior paint (dupli-color) It's in and looks new, and makes me proud I have less than $30 into it. I've done lots of painting over this last summer mostly with rattle cans and found that if you purchase the spray gun handle that clips onto the top of the can so it shoots like a real paint gun, it comes out even with no runs. I always thought rattle can paint was crap, and maybe it use to be, but now I think it mostly had to do with uneven atomized paint because of inconsistent finger pressure on the spray nozzle. Good luck with whichever route you take!
